What to bring to your child's appointment
A short list that makes a fifteen-minute appointment go further, and the one item parents most often forget.
The appointment starts before you arrive. What you bring decides how much of it is spent finding things out and how much is spent working out what to do.
Bring the vaccination card. If it has been lost, say so when you book rather than on the day — there is usually a way to reconstruct it, and it is easier done in advance.
Bring any medicine your child is currently taking, in its box. Not a photograph, not the name from memory: the box carries the strength and the dose, and those are the parts that matter.
Bring previous records if you have changed clinics, particularly growth measurements. A single weight says very little; the same child measured three times says a great deal.
And bring a written note of what you want to ask. This is the item parents most often forget and most often regret. Questions have a reliable habit of evaporating the moment the appointment starts, and a note is what survives that.
